NutrEval – General Health MOT test

The NutrEval test is the most comprehensive health MOT available. It identifies nutritional deficiencies and insufficiencies for over 125 markers and provides personalised recommendations for each.

The NutrEval profile is the most comprehensive health MOT available.

The NutrEval  has the broadest evaluation available for checking your nutrient status, oxidative stress, mitochondrial function, omega fatty acid balance, toxic exposure, methylation factors and much more.

It is one step up from our Basic MOT – the Metabolomix test, previously known as the ONE test.

The NutrEval test can detect imbalances that may precede abnormal findings on standard laboratory panels. It therefore identifies the need for changes such as specific nutrients, diet modification, antioxidant protection, detoxification and possible other therapies.

Whether you are looking to check for deficiencies, addressing a chronic condition, are aiming for optimal health and wellness, or are a sports professional looking to improve your personal best, this test covers all of your needs.

This test you will help you gain an in-depth understanding of your diet and nutrient status, enabling you to better manage all your diet and supplementation needs.

Results are clearly shown with a table collating all of the findings as well as further information going into more detail. The results also show your nutrient needs.

Comprehensive Health and Nutrient Analysis Summary

1.Personalised Results Overview

•Detailed insights into your unique nutrient needs and functional imbalances, covering areas such as methylation, toxic exposure, mitochondrial dysfunction, fatty acid imbalances, and oxidative stress.

•Nutrient-specific recommendations for antioxidants, B-vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, gastrointestinal support, and amino acids.

2.Functional Imbalance Scores

•Highlights key areas of imbalance to help address the root cause of health concerns.

3.Interpretation-at-a-Glance

•Nutritional education pages for both you and your patient, explaining each nutrient’s function, potential causes and complications of deficiencies, and food sources to address them.

At Smart Nutrition we pride ourselves in offering the best cost possible for the nutreval – general health MOT test.

The NutrEval test evaluates over 100 biomarkers. It assesses the body’s functional need for 40 antioxidants, essential fatty acids, amino acids, vitamins, minerals and digestive support, as well as other nutrients and markers including toxic minerals and digestive markers.

Test Panels and Marker Insights

Organic Acids (Urine)

•Malabsorption & Dysbiosis Markers: Indicators of bacterial and yeast imbalances in the gut microbiome.

•Cellular Energy & Mitochondrial Markers: Biomarkers reflecting carbohydrate and fatty acid metabolism, and the citric acid (Krebs) cycle.

•Neurotransmitter Metabolites: Downstream byproducts of serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine, and epinephrine.

•Vitamin Markers: Functional indicators of vitamin cofactor levels.

•Toxin & Detoxification Markers: Assess the body’s ability to process and detoxify harmful substances.

•Oxalate Markers: Linked to kidney stone formation, oxidative stress, and metabolic dysfunction.

•Oxidative Stress Markers: Includes glutathione (whole blood), Coenzyme Q10 (serum), and oxidative damage markers such as lipid peroxides and 8-OHdG (urine).

Amino Acids (Plasma or Urine)

•Essential Amino Acids: Obtained through diet and critical for protein synthesis.

•Nonessential Amino Acids: Produced naturally by the body.

•Intermediary Metabolites: Byproducts of amino acid metabolism.

•B Vitamin Markers: Reflect the functional status of B vitamins in biochemical reactions.

•Urea Cycle Markers: Linked to nitrogen (ammonia) detoxification.

•Glycine/Serine Pathway Markers: Involved in methylation and serine-to-choline metabolism.

•Dietary Peptide Markers: Assess incomplete protein digestion and dietary intake of meat.

Essential and Metabolic Fatty Acids (RBCs)

•Omega-3 Fatty Acids: Vital for brain and cardiovascular health; anti-inflammatory.

•Omega-6 Fatty Acids: Support inflammation balance.

•Omega-9 Fatty Acids: Aid brain development, nerve health, and inflammation reduction.

•Saturated Fatty Acids: Linked to lipoprotein metabolism and adipose tissue inflammation.

•Monounsaturated Fats: Include omega-7 fats and unhealthy trans fats.

•Delta-6 Desaturase Activity: Evaluates enzyme efficiency in metabolising omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids.

•Cardiovascular Risk Markers: Includes Omega-3 Index and specific fatty acid ratios.

Elemental Markers

•Nutrient Elements: Direct measurements of essential minerals like copper, zinc, magnesium, potassium, manganese, and selenium.

•Toxic Elements: Identifies recent (90-120 day) exposure to harmful metals such as lead, mercury, arsenic, and cadmium.

A saliva sample is required for these tests.

All samples for Genetic testing are completely destroyed after 1 month.

Blood and urine are required for the NutrEval test; if you choose any add on tests, these require a saliva sample.

An overnight fast is required for the blood draw. The blood sample needs centrifuging ( spinning at high speed) before it is returned to the lab. The clear top tube has to be frozen solid as does the amber transfer tube.  You can do this overnight but the samples must be sent the following day.

Samples should preferably be received at the laboratory within 24 hours of the blood draw. If your blood draw is later in the day and you need to freeze samples overnight then please send them the next day to arrive Monday to Thursday only.

Full instructions will be sent with your test kit.

Abnormal kidney function or use of diuretics may influence test results.

Discontinue non-essential medications 4 days before test. Antibiotics, antifungals, amphetamines, acid blockers, fibrate and corticosteroids may impact results.

Please consult your GP before stopping any medication.

4 days before the test, please avoid artificial sweeteners and MSG. If medically appropriate, non-essential medications, supplements and nutrient fortified foods/beverages should be discontinued. Please consult your practitioner before stopping any supplements.

24 hours before taking the test, please eat your usual diet. Avoid over-consuming any single food or extreme diets. Seafood must be avoided. Fluid intake should be limited to 1.5 litres of fluid over the preceding 24 hour period to collecting the samples.

An overnight fast is required prior to having the blood test.

2 years and above.

Please return via a next day service Monday – Thursday only. A courier option is sent with your test kit. You pay the laboratory directly for this test and also the return courier if you use the service. You can also make your own arrangements for returning your samples via a next day service.

23 working days.

Your test results will be emailed to you.
