Pyroluria Test

Pyroluria Test

What is pyroluria?

Some people with depression or other mental health disorders can have high levels of kryptopyrroles in their urine when tested.

Kryptopyrroles cause the body to lose vitamin B6 and zinc by excreting them in the urine, this then leads to deficiencies in these essential nutrients. This condition, known as pyroluria, often requires supplementation of these nutrients to restore proper levels of B6 and zinc.

There are many signs and symptoms of pyroluria which can occur at any age but symptoms are often brought on by stress. There seems to be a familial or genetic component as it is most often seen in females and runs in families.

A high incidence of increased levels of kryptopyrroles (Pyroluria) can be seen in:

Autism spectrum disorders
Bipolar disorder
Down syndrome

At Smart Nutrition we pride ourselves in offering the best cost possible for the pyroluria test.
